more than 100 people took to the streets of san jose to express their grief and outrage over the killing of a young husband and father. the group mothers against murder organize the march in response to the fatal stabbing of a man last sunday. the sheriff's office said he was killed when he went to question two men sitting in a truck outside his home on raymond avenue.>> this is a senseless murder and we only feel the pain that came from the mother. how traumatized the young boys are.>> the sheriff's office has released a surveillance photo of the truck believes to be involved in the fatal stabbing. the time of the attack. mothers against murder is offering a $5000 award for information about the

killer. the fbi is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a person who set a fire at a planned parenthood facility. this surveillance video shows the person setting fire to the building on the south valley house. nobody was injured, anybody with information should contact watsonville police. a chain of family-run care facilities are now at the center of a human trafficking and weapons investigation. their employees say the owners exploited them making them work 24 hour days and forcing them to sleep on a garage floor. four people have been arrested, they operated facilities in south san francisco, daly city and pacifica. they took care of kids and elderly while their bosses allegedly trafficked them and stockpiled guns. three of them were so called ghost gun rifles with no serial

numbers.>> why you need this type of firepower to take care of people who are aged or our children, i can't understand it. >> four people face 59 charges including three counts of rape for allegedly assaulting a female worker. a trial date set for two men charged in a deadly ghost ship fire will call a plea deal in the case thrown out by a judge. defense attorneys are making plans to fight back. >> reporter: plea deals rejected by a judge going to trial on april 2 at least for now. the defense is considering a motion to have a trial moved out of alameda county. each charged with 36 counts of

involuntary manslaughter, one count for each victim who died. last month the judge rejected plea deals for both defendants saying not enough remorse was on. the judge also throughout the other bleeding -- print -- plea agreement. in a news statement he said in his plea deal rejection it was a set up. a morbid publicity stunt organized the da. he's fighting to get his clients plea deal reinstated and if that fails he says he is ready to take it to a jury.>> they want a trial? give him a trial. we are eagled -- eager to show our clients in a sense and figured to show that there is going to be large reasonable doubt in terms of this. >> reporter: she plans to turn

the blame on the landlord who was not criminally charged and other entities like the city of oakland who they say turned a blind eye to conditions in the warehouse.>> we want to humiliate and embarrass every public official who did not do their job.>> reporter: the attorney tells me he wants this to be the most painful trial that the city of oakland have ever endured. a houston oil company was found guilty of criminal charges and an oil spill that tarred beaches and wildlife in santa barbara. this bill in 2015 caused by a corroded pipe sent at least 123,000 gallons of crude oil onto a beach. a jury found them guilty of one felony for failing to maintain the pipeline and eight misdemeanors. the company said in a statement they accept full responsibility

prepare for attacks and other disasters. critics have complained that the program focused on military tactics that can frequently target communities of color. earlier this year the board of supervisors voted to end the urban shield program after 2018 and refocus the purpose to disaster response training and emergency preparedness.>> we ended urban shield successfully and in its place we need to decide as a county what we value and how we are going to prepare for our emergencies.>> this year's program began yesterday and continues through monday. a delay in plans to bring bart to san jose, the problem discovered after months of construction. california banned some charter schools, a new law signed by governor brown today. a woman today, mostly clear skies through friday night. a bit of a change of temperatures into the weekend. more coming up.

a dallas police officer charged with manslaughter after she shot and killed her neighbor mistaking her -- the apartment for her on. she just finished her shift and was returning home when she walked into her neighbor's apartment which was the wrong apartment. the victim identified was rushed to the hospital where he died. investigators say it is not clear how the officer ended up in the wrong apartment.>>'s blood sample was drawn to test the officers level for drugs or alcohol. at my request we are in the process of obtaining a warrant based on the circumstances we have right now.>> police have not released the officer's name. botham shem jean work for an accounting and consulting firm.

extension during june. small computer components have been installed in a 10 mile stretch of construction south of the warm springs station. the electronic cost of $1.2 million were part of the communications equipment that control lighting, intercom and fire alarms inside the various stations. they discovered a subcontractor installed used parts instead of new ones.>> is not that there could be problems, it's just the parts were not per specificatio discover the problem until june after the oversight board had gone on summer break. the subcontractor is now replacing all of the used components with new ones.>> we are taking measures to take that equipment out and replace it and then we will retest.>> reporter: the mayor stated our top priority is ensuring that

we have a safe and secure system which is why we are working to replace the equipment as soon as possible. some passengers agree safety should be the top consideration.>> passengers can take a bit of convenience.>> reporter: it will cost a three- month delay pushing completion back until the fall 2019 at the earliest. they also say they have complete confidence to take corrective steps against the subcontractor. jerry brown signed a bill banning companies from running charter schools here in california. supporters say these schools have been turning public money for students into corporate profits. there are now 34 charter schools in california run by or profit corporations. charter schools are not required to follow all the rules established for traditional public schools in

california. mac miller has died today after a suspected drug overdose. he was found dead inside his san fernando valley home. he reportedly battled substance abuse for many years. in may he was arrested for dui after he hit a pole with his car near his home and fled the scene. >> around noon he was found, friends found him and alerted 911.>> he was just 26 years old, originally from pennsylvania. more sunshine today, we are advertising the hottest day of the week and it looks like it's on track. our return of the 90s out to fairfield, san jose 84 degrees. san francisco 66.
